About the buyer
The Government Commercial Agency is an executive agency of the Cabinet Office, formed in April 2026 from Crown Commercial Service and several Cabinet Office commercial teams. More than 100 commercial agreements sit under its management, covering goods and services for public sector buyers. Suppliers register and bid through digital platforms including the Digital Marketplace, eSourcing and the Purchasing Platform. Contracts Finder and Find a Tender carry notices above the platform's own thresholds. An assisted procurement service guides public buyers who are new to the frameworks. A board of independent non-executive directors oversees the agency.
Procurement spend from central entities makes up 66% of overall UK public spend.
Over the past 5 years, most of Government Commercial Agency's contract awards have been in IT services, software and information systems and business services.
