Tender description
This Invitation to Tender (“ITT”) has been issued by the Police and Crime Commissioner for Sussex (the PCC for Sussex) who is seeking to appoint a maximum of 32 of suppliers for the provision of vehicle maintenance services to the PCC for Sussex and to the PCC for Surrey (together, 'the Authorities') . The Requirement will be tendered as a multi-supplier framework divided into 4 (four) lots, listed within the ITT Statement of Requirements (Specification) document. A maximum of 8 suppliers may be awarded a contract on each Framework lot. This tender replaces the previous tender published on September 10th, 2026 and contains an updated requirement related to the maximum distance between the Authorities' workshops and suppliers' premises. To minimise environmental impact and vehicle downtime while at the same time increasing supplier participation to the project, premises where suppliers intend to provide the services must be located within 35 miles of at least one of the Authorities' workshops in Surrey, East Sussex and West Sussex.

About the buyer
Sussex Police buys as a blue light force through a joint procurement service shared with Surrey Police. This Joint Procurement Service advises both forces and their Police and Crime Commissioners on every tender. Procurement follows the Procurement Act 2023, in force since February 2025. Suppliers register free on the In-Tend portal, where day-to-day opportunities are published. Larger opportunities also appear on Find a Tender and Contracts Finder. National policing contracts increasingly route through BlueLight Commercial, formed in 2024 from the Police Digital Service's frameworks. Bidders are asked to submit a social value plan using BlueLight Commercial's NETpositive tool.
The top 10 blue light buyers spent a collective £2.2bn between FY2021 and FY2025.
Over the past 5 years, most of Sussex Police's contract awards have been in office and computing equipment and software and information systems.
