Monaghan County Council wishes to tender for: Consultancy services for the development of a Green Infrastructure Framework for Monaghan Town

Tender description

The Monaghan Town Decarbonising Zone Green Infrastructure (GI) Framework will map and assess existing green assets such as parks, green spaces, rivers, and greenways to identify biodiversity strengths, gaps, and opportunities across the town. Using GIS analysis, the project will establish priority green infrastructure corridors that improve ecological connectivity, support wildlife and pollinators, and integrate biodiversity into future planning, regeneration, and Active Travel projects. The framework will identify practical nature-based solutions including tree planting, urban forests, meadows, green corridors, and sustainable landscape measures that deliver climate and environmental benefits such as carbon sequestration, urban cooling, improved air quality, and reduced flood risk. It will also provide Monaghan County Council with a phased implementation roadmap and a pipeline of fundable projects, enabling coordinated investment and positioning the Council to secure future national and European funding. Overall, the project provides a practical plan to enhance biodiversity, strengthen climate resilience, and support the long-term decarbonisation of Monaghan Town.
