Tender description
Mini Competition from Cadw Conservation Works Framework C049/2021/2022 Cadw Properties in Care / Visitor Services noted a number of (minor) masonry falls along the length of the curtain wall to the south dam platform. This area is, eventually, to be repurposed as the play area for the Caerphilly Castle redevelopment project so risks of further masonry falls need to be mitigated as best as possible. The aim/objective of the works are to remove vegetation from the wall top, and both faces of the wall, rake out loose/defective mortar and repoint (using an approved lime mortar) to the wall top and elevations of the south dam curtain wall. Any loose stones will be re bedded in existing positions. Requirement Cadw expect the successful bidder to provide a safe compound in which to work, followed by undertaking the required works. Works can be carried out from rope or scaffolding. The works are to be carried out in accordance with the associated Scheduled Monument Consent and contract drawings.
