Research undertaken by Social Work England shows that 83% of Councils were experiencing problems recruiting Children’s Social Workers with 72% saying retention was a problem. Redcar & Cleveland are having difficulties with both recruitment and retention which means that we are heavy reliant on agency Social Workers within the Children and Families Directorate
