About the buyer
London Borough of Merton is a local authority whose competitive tenders are run by its Commercial Services team. Every opportunity is advertised on the London Tenders Portal, the ProContract system shared across nineteen London boroughs. Larger contracts are also published on Find a Tender. Framework agreements from the Crown Commercial Service, ESPO and YPO are used where appropriate. Suppliers register free on the portal to receive alerts in their chosen categories. Quotations below the tender threshold must include one from a local provider or an SME. Merton has also signed the Small Business Friendly Concordat.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of London Borough of Merton's contract awards have been in construction work, IT services and health and social work.
