Tender description

This notice isn't for a contract award but an update concerning a variation. The original CF Notice can't be updated but can be found here - https://www.contractsfinder.service.gov.uk/notice/cbe6740b-dbbc-408f-9245-822914061513?origin=SearchResults&p=1 This variation extends the expiry date by 12 months to 30th September 2024. It also increases the value of the contract from £75,000, as originally published on Contracts Finder*, to £95,000. This variation is being made in accordance with Regulation 72(1)(b) of the Public Contract Regulations 2015. The services provided under the contract remain the same, being to provide the ClearView system which is used to manage all operational level business continuity plans (BCPs) from the former NHS Digital organisation. In addition to managing and invoking BCPs, the ClearView system also provides functionality for major incident notifications via email, SMS and a ClearView mobile companion app.. However, as a result of the merger with NHS England there has been an unforeseen need to extend the contract to allow sufficient time for decisions to be made about implementing a combined Business Continuity (BC) System covering NHSE and the former NHSD and HEE business areas. The extension preserves the capability for former NHS Digital teams to respond effectively to a major incident affecting business operations. *Please note that we found an error with the original notice. The contract award value should have included provision for an extension and the therefore the total contract Award value should have been £75,000.

About the buyer

NHS England runs the NHS in England, and buys as a central healthcare organisation with its own team of procurement professionals. Every tender is advertised on Atamis, the NHS's single eCommercial system, and larger contracts appear on Find a Tender. Much of this procurement flows through framework agreements and the Crown Commercial Service. Clinical services are commissioned directly or through the Provider Selection Regime. Seven regional teams support the commissioning of healthcare services across the country. The central commercial function that develops procurement strategy for the whole NHS sits here.

UK health spending has nearly quadrupled to £241.8bn in 2024/25, £20bn up on the year before. £140.6bn of that went to procurement, the biggest sector of UK public spending and the fastest-growing.

Over the past 5 years, most of NHS England's contract awards have been in education and training, health and social work, and IT services.
