Tender description
The purpose of this service is to provide safe, suitable, and immediately available emergency accommodation for individuals, couples or households who require urgent placement due to homelessness, crisis, or risk of harm. The service will operate on a spot-purchase basis, enabling the Authority to secure accommodation flexibly and at short notice. The Local Authority is running an Open Invitation to Tender under the Procurement Act 2023. The Authority reserves the right to deviate from the formalities of the open procedure given the flexibilities permitted by Regulation 9 of the Procurement Act 2023 in the conduct of procurements for "wholly or mainly for the supply of services of a kind specified in regulations under subsection (2)”, otherwise referred to as “Light Touch Regime” procurement. Due to nature of the service, The Authority is looking to enter into a number of spot-purchase contracts with accommodation providers, up to a total maximum value of £5 million (£5,000,000) across all providers, over a six-year period contract period (4+1+1). This is an advert for the opportunity; the tender documents will be published imminently. If you are interested in participating in this opportunity, please submit an Expression of Interest which will grant you access to the full tender documents when they become available. Keywords: Temporary Accommodation, Short-term Placements, Emergency Accommodation

About the buyer
Peterborough City Council is a local authority that procures works, goods and services through its own e-procurement system, ProContract. Contracts above the relevant thresholds also appear on Find a Tender. Registering on Find a Tender requires a GOV.UK One Login. Suppliers register only after winning a tender or being contacted directly by a service area. The Buying Support team then issues registration forms to successful suppliers. A separate payments team manages changes to registered suppliers' bank and contact details. ProContract also lists the council's existing contracts and their renewal dates.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of Peterborough City Council's contract awards have been in health and social work, software and information systems and construction work.
