About the buyer

Brighton and Hove City Council buys as a local authority, with procurement staff spread across its many service departments rather than one central team. A quick quotes tool on South East Shared Services handles competitive bidding for smaller contracts. Smaller purchases go through competitive written quotes, while larger contracts move to open tendering.

Construction contractors are drawn from the ConstructionLine database, and the council keeps separate approved lists for adult social care and children's services.

Over the past 5 years, most of Brighton and Hove City Council's contract awards have been in education and training, construction work and health and social work.
