About the buyer

The Mining Remediation Authority manages the legacy of historical mining across Great Britain as a public body sponsored by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. Contract opportunities are published on Find a Tender. Suppliers are sourced through Crown Commercial Service frameworks and competitive tender on the open market. Single-tender and restricted contracts stay limited and exceptional, with exceptions reported quarterly to DESNZ. Larger procurements need a strategy approved by DESNZ before work goes to market. Emergency call-out and minor civil engineering works are called off through a dedicated NEC4 framework.

£434bn was the total UK public sector procurement spend in FY 2025/26.

Over the past 5 years, most of the Mining Remediation Authority's contract awards have been in construction work, metals and mining products and architectural and engineering services.
