About the buyer

Argyll and Bute Council is a local authority on Scotland's west coast, running procurement through its own dedicated team based in Kilmory. Suppliers register with Public Contracts Scotland, the portal where every tender is advertised. Registered suppliers can set up alerts for opportunities that match their trade. Existing council or national frameworks and contracts take priority before a new competition is run. Larger opportunities are run as single or dual-stage tenders through that same portal. One team manages both procurement and ongoing contract management for the council.

UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).

Over the past 5 years, most of Argyll and Bute Council's contract awards have been in architectural and engineering services, business services and health and social work.
