Tender description
Forestry England requires a contractor to undertake Rhododendron and scrub removal within the Wild Purbeck area of the South Forest District. Rhododendron is an invasive non-native species that suppresses native vegetation, reduces biodiversity, impacts woodland regeneration and can affect habitat condition. The works form part of Forestry England's land management and habitat restoration programme, supporting wider environmental objectives and improving the condition of woodland and open habitats. The contract will be to deliver seasonal vegetation clearance work which must be undertaken during the 2026/27 season to align with operational, ecological and site management requirements. The requirement is for a experienced contractor with trained personnel, specialist machinery and equipment capable of undertaking vegetation clearance works safely and efficiently within woodland and environmentally sensitive sites. The work is time critical and must commence from November 2026 to take advantage of the seasonal operating window and avoid delaying habitat restoration objectives. The contract duration is limited to 6 months as a new National Vegetation Management Framework is expected to be available for future requirements.
