Tender description
Department for Transport (DfT) is a ministerial department. We work with our agencies and partners to support the transport network that helps the United Kingdom's businesses and keeps people and goods travelling around the country. We plan and invest in transport infrastructure to keep the UK on the move. DfT is considering a procurement under Lot 1 of the Government Commercial Agency’s Digital Outcomes and Specialists 7 (RM1043.9) framework agreement for a Supplier to deliver a Discovery. The Supplier would deliver an agile Discovery to develop an evidence-based understanding of the problems affecting the existing Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle Licensing Service. This would include examining current information-sharing arrangements, user needs, constraints and potential options for improvement. If you are a Supplier on Lot 1 of the Digital Outcomes and Specialists 7 (RM1043.9) framework agreement and would like a copy of the RFI, please email DDaT.CRM@dft.gov.uk using the subject heading “RFI for Provision of Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle Licensing Service Discovery”.

About the buyer
Department for Transport (DfT) is a central government department, with commercial work spanning road, rail, aviation and maritime transport across the United Kingdom. The Group Commercial Directorate leads procurement for DfT from Great Minster House. Every opportunity DfT runs directly is advertised on Contracts Finder. National Highways, HS2 Ltd and Network Rail each run their own separate procurement as arm's-length bodies of DfT. The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency also buy separately. Suppliers to DfT are paid on 90% of undisputed invoices under its prompt payment commitment.
Procurement spend from central entities makes up 66% of overall UK public spend.
Over the past 5 years, most of DfT's contract awards have been in business services, architectural and engineering services and research and development.
