About the buyer
Sussex Police buys as a blue light force through a joint procurement service shared with Surrey Police. This Joint Procurement Service advises both forces and their Police and Crime Commissioners on every tender. Procurement follows the Procurement Act 2023, in force since February 2025. Suppliers register free on the In-Tend portal, where day-to-day opportunities are published. Larger opportunities also appear on Find a Tender and Contracts Finder. National policing contracts increasingly route through BlueLight Commercial, formed in 2024 from the Police Digital Service's frameworks. Bidders are asked to submit a social value plan using BlueLight Commercial's NETpositive tool.
The top 10 blue light buyers spent a collective £2.2bn between FY2021 and FY2025.
Over the past 5 years, most of Sussex Police's contract awards have been in office and computing equipment and software and information systems.
