About the buyer
Royal Borough of Greenwich is a local authority covering southeast London, and runs its own tenders for goods and services. Suppliers register and bid for opportunities through the council's Proactis Rego platform. Procurement methods vary by the type of product or service and its value. Larger contracts are advertised nationally through the government's Find a Tender service. The council also runs multi-year frameworks for regeneration and construction work. Purchasing decisions follow procurement rules drawn from European directives, UK legislation and council policy. Bidders with recognised quality management accreditation, such as ISO 9000, are given preference.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of Royal Borough of Greenwich's contract awards have been in health and social work, architectural and engineering services and construction work.
