Procurement Journey Currently, access to accredited cycle mechanic training (e.g., Cytech, Velotech) is concentrated in southern and central Scotland, creating financial and logistical barriers for delivery partners in the Highlands and Islands. HITRANS wishes to explore market interest, facility readiness, and delivery models to establish an accredited regional cycle training hub and delivery network north of Glasgow, with embedded employability and social value placement opportunities. The Highlands and Islands Transport Partnership (HITRANS) seeks to build sustainable active travel capacity across its operational area. A key constraint identified by local active travel and community delivery partners is the lack of accredited cycle maintenance training facilities (e.g., Cytech, Velotech) situated north of Glasgow, requiring staff and volunteers to travel to central Scotland or England for certifications (including e-bike technical qualifications).
