About the buyer
The Food Standards Agency is a non-ministerial central government department, and a commercial team runs its procurement. Every tender is advertised through the Health Family Single eCommercial System, known as Atamis, with larger opportunities also appearing on Find a Tender. Contracts Finder lists smaller opportunities separately. Crown Commercial Service and Government Commercial Service frameworks cover some procurements, with the call-off contract included in the tender. Standard contract terms scale with value, up to a model services contract for the largest projects. Suppliers register on Atamis to express interest and submit responses electronically.
Procurement spend from central entities makes up 66% of overall UK public spend.
Over the past 5 years, most of Food Standards Agency's contract awards have been in research and development, business services and software and information systems.
