The proposed development comprises an extension to the existing MDEC building at Altnagelvin Hospital to provide additional medical teaching facilities for MedEd West. The extension is designed to provide fit-for-purpose accommodation that supports the delivery of high-quality, integrated teaching for Ulster University students based on the hospital site. The new building will be located within the curtilage of the existing MDEC facility, positioned between the current library and two large meeting rooms. The design has been carefully developed to integrate with the existing built form and enhance the functionality of the overall teaching complex. Additional car parking will be provided as part of this application in order to maintain the overall car parking provision on the Altnagelvin site.
