About the buyer
North East Lincolnshire Council is a local authority with its own procurement specialists buying goods, services, works and concession contracts. Tenders are advertised on YORtender, the Yorkshire and Humber e-tendering system run by Mercell, where suppliers register free. Contracts range from single-supplier agreements to framework agreements with several suppliers. A Procurement Pipeline sets out indicative procurement activity for the next 18 months. Every contract awarded for works, services and supplies appears on a live contracts register. The Procurement Strategy 2023 to 2027 prioritises smaller businesses and voluntary, community and social enterprises.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of North East Lincolnshire Council's contract awards have been in construction work, health and social work and transport services.
