About the buyer

City of Doncaster Council is the local authority for Doncaster, and its Strategic Procurement Team leads the council's buying. Every procurement exercise is advertised on YORtender, the council's web-based tendering portal. Registered suppliers can set alerts by CPV code and receive a notification whenever the council publishes a relevant tender. Much of this procurement also flows through third-party frameworks let by national consortia such as YPO, CCS and ESPO. Suppliers awarded a larger contract must be registered on the Central Digital Platform, formerly the Find a Tender Service. A Local Supplier Directory helps council staff find local firms for below-threshold purchases and quotes.

UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).

Over the past 5 years, most of City of Doncaster Council's contract awards have been in construction work, software and information systems and business services.
