About the buyer

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is a healthcare buyer that runs hospital services across Hull and hosts a regional procurement collaborative for two neighbouring trusts. The Humber and North Yorkshire Procurement Collaborative sits inside the Trust and buys for all three partner trusts together. Suppliers register once through the Achilles system, and every contracting authority using it can then see that record. A single commercial systems strategy covers procure-to-pay, catalogues and inventory management across the collaborative. Centralising these transactions supports consistent, data-driven purchasing decisions.

UK health spending has nearly quadrupled to £241.8bn in 2024/25, £20bn up on the year before. £140.6bn of that went to procurement, the biggest sector of UK public spending and the fastest-growing.

Over the past 5 years, most of Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust's contract awards have been in medical equipment and pharmaceuticals, repair and maintenance and health and social work.
