Tender description
This VEAT is to inform the market that North Central London Integrated Care Board wishes to extend current provision of Mental Health Employment Support Service - Individual Placement and Support (IPS) and Employment Advisors in Talking Therapies in the borough of Islington for 12 months. This will allow the ICB to plan for a procurement across NCL for 2026/27 onwards. Lot 1: Both central government and the NHS are increasingly recognising employment as an important route for people with mental illness to experience recovery and improved wellbeing. Employment of people in contact with secondary mental health services is a key indicator under the NHS and Adult Social Care Outcomes framework. Helping people find good jobs and stay in work is one of the key actions that ICS such as ours can deliver to ensure the best outcomes for our communities, while at the same time making the most effective use of resources. Tackling health-related worklessness can contribute in reducing health inequalities in local populations. The ICB is commissioning the IPS service to deploy specialists into community mental health teams and other secondary mental health services. The aim of this service is to deliver an integrated, evidence-based, supported employment service for people with mental health issues, based in secondary mental health teams. The employment specialist will work in close collaboration with clinical staff and any individuals who express an interest in employment to achieve an employment outcome. About the buyer
NHS North Central London ICB commissions health and care services across Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington, working as one of England's integrated care boards. Clinical services are commissioned through the Provider Selection Regime rather than open competitive tender. Non-clinical goods and works follow the Public Contract Regulations and the Procurement Act 2023. Individual awards are logged in a public register of procurement decisions. Twelve NHS trusts and around 200 GP practices sit within its wider care system. The board formed in July 2022 under the Health and Care Act.
UK health spending has nearly quadrupled to £241.8bn in 2024/25, £20bn up on the year before. £140.6bn of that went to procurement, the biggest sector of UK public spending and the fastest-growing.
Over the past 5 years, most of NHS North Central London ICB's contract awards have been in health and social work, IT services and medical equipment and pharmaceuticals.
