About the buyer

London Ambulance Service NHS Trust runs 999 ambulance services across the capital and buys as an NHS healthcare provider. Tenders are advertised through the Health Family eCommercial System, the sector's shared portal. Much of its procurement runs through the NHS London Procurement Programme and the Southern Ambulance Services Collaborative. Wider agreements come via the Government Commercial Agency's frameworks. Purchases follow the Procurement Act 2023 and, for clinical services, the Provider Selection Regime. The Chief Finance Officer holds overall responsibility for procurement spend.

UK health spending has nearly quadrupled to £241.8bn in 2024/25, £20bn up on the year before. £140.6bn of that went to procurement, the biggest sector of UK public spending and the fastest-growing.

Over the past 5 years, most of London Ambulance Service NHS Trust's contract awards have been in repair and maintenance, transport equipment and business services.
