About the buyer
London Borough of Hillingdon buys as a local authority, running its tenders electronically through Proactis Rego, its online tendering system. Suppliers register free through the Proactis Supplier Network to bid for opportunities. Larger contracts also appear on the government's Contracts Finder and the Proactis website once they pass a set value threshold. A procurement pipeline reviewed each quarter sets out upcoming projects planned over the next two years. Framework agreements awarded by external public bodies are used alongside direct tenders. Approved council contractors carry out lower-value work without a full tender.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of London Borough of Hillingdon's contract awards have been in construction work, business services and health and social work.
