About the buyer
Genomics England is a government-owned healthcare body that delivers NHS genomic testing and research programmes. Its own commercial team runs procurement across the organisation, employing dedicated procurement managers. Contract opportunities appear on Find a Tender, including for the Genomics England Researcher Platform. Larger technology projects often route through the Crown Commercial Service's Digital Outcomes framework. Suppliers on these projects work directly with product and service delivery managers inside the organisation. Past contracts for data hosting and cloud infrastructure have gone to Crown Hosting, AWS and Azure.
UK health spending has nearly quadrupled to £241.8bn in 2024/25, £20bn up on the year before. £140.6bn of that went to procurement, the biggest sector of UK public spending and the fastest-growing.
Over the past 5 years, most of Genomics England's contract awards have been in software and information systems, IT services and business services.
