Tender description

Hywel Dda University Health Board's (HDUHB) Digital Directorate have awarded a contract for an InTouch system and support renewal. InTouch allows patients to check-in to appointments themselves using wall mounted self-service kiosks at Cardigan and Aberaeron Integrated Care Centres. The system integrates with Wales Patient Access System (WPAS) to provide appointment information which can reduce queue times and lengths at the reception desk. The system provides estimated wait times and directs patients to their wait location which improves the overall patient experience whilst freeing up staff for other critical tasks. About the buyer

NHS Wales - Shared Services Partnership is hosted by Velindre NHS Trust and buys as a healthcare body for every health board and trust in Wales through its Procurement Services division. Tenders are advertised on Sell2Wales and run through the eTenderWales portal. Frameworks cover capital equipment, pharmaceuticals, clinical supplies, food, utilities, maintenance, IT and the commissioning of healthcare services. Local procurement teams work with each health board alongside sourcing, supply chain and accounts payable teams. Where appropriate, tenders are split into smaller lots so SMEs can bid.

UK health spending has nearly quadrupled to £241.8bn in 2024/25, £20bn up on the year before. £140.6bn of that went to procurement, the biggest sector of UK public spending and the fastest-growing.

Over the past 5 years, most of NHS Wales - Shared Services Partnership's contract awards have been in health and social work, medical equipment and pharmaceuticals and repair and maintenance.
