About the buyer
Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council is a local authority for the Black Country, advertising its contract opportunities through the Black Country Business portal. Suppliers register there to receive automated notifications of relevant tender opportunities. Bids and documents are then exchanged securely through the council's InTend e-tendering system. Above-threshold contracts must run for at least 52 days before the closing date, and also appear on Contracts Finder. Certain council directorates keep approved contractor lists, choosing bidders in rotation for specific projects. Most contracts are awarded for a minimum of two to three years, with the option to extend further.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council's contract awards have been in construction work, health and social work and business services.
