Tender description

Derry City and Strabane District Council invite suppliers to tender for PeacePlus Ballyarnett Men's Programme. A Cross-Border, Cross-Community Male focused Programme addressing Health and Wellbeing, Physical Exercise, and Men’s Shed networking. Includes a range of practical based activities and visits to other men's sheds and social economy projects. Participants will be drawn from the greater Ballyarnett area (Predominantly a Catholic / Nationalist / Republican CNR area) and will outreach across the District and Cross-Border to gain cross-community participation and in particular, participation from the Protestant / Unionist / Loyalist community. The project will deliver sustained engagement on issues of common interest to develop positive cross community and cross border relationships in an inclusive and welcoming environment. The Co-Design process identified strong social, wellbeing and physical benefits from Men’s Shed work in the District Electoral Area (DEA). This project builds on this work and enhances networking opportunities for sharing ideas and breaking down barriers. It will promote peace and reconciliation amongst an age group who lived through the worst of the troubles. This project is under the Thriving and Peaceful Communities Theme. Please refer to the CfT documents for further detail. Lot 1: Derry City and Strabane District Council invite suppliers to tender for PeacePlus Ballyarnett Men's Programme. About the buyer

Derry City & Strabane District Council is a local authority covering the Derry and Strabane district in Northern Ireland, running its own procurement function. Tenders are published through eTendersNI, the shared eProcurement portal for Northern Ireland's public bodies. Contracts are grouped by department, spanning environment, business, health and community, capital and corporate categories. Complex procurements often open with a preliminary market engagement questionnaire ahead of the full tender. Bids typically close at 12 noon on a specified Friday, set out on each notice. The council's own website also mirrors live and past tenders alongside the portal.

UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).

Over the past 5 years, most of Derry City & Strabane District Council's contract awards have been in construction work, architectural and engineering services and business services.
