Review of the Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Evidence Base in Wales

The Welsh Government wishes to commission a Review of the Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence data landscape in Wales across key areas of interest, aligned to the three purposes of the VAWDASV Act; objectives of the statutory Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse, and Sexual Violence Strategy 2022-2026 and the action areas of the blueprint high level action plan. This up-to-date review is required to ensure that the Welsh Government are accessing, harnessing, and using the best available data for effective policy making and delivery, and to inform future research priorities. This includes an assessment of the relative strengths/weaknesses of identified data sources and exploring any key evidence gaps (i.e., what is not known). Data mapping will be carried out with a consideration of the VAWDASV indicators and the possibility of fit and use noted. While initial work has been carried out on this project within Welsh Government, more thorough and robust research is needed which is outside the capacity of GSR/GSS at this time
