Tender description

The Department of Health and Social Care is seeking sponsors to deliver a high-level 2-day UK-Africa workshop in October/November 2025. This event aims to position the UK as a trusted partner in Africa’s expanding health industries and advance commercial opportunities for UK industries in vaccine production in Africa. This private event will convene senior UK and African policymakers, healthcare leaders, and industry stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and drive forward shared priorities in vaccine production and related health manufacturing capabilities. The event forms part of the UK Government’s commitment to supporting Africa’s growing health industries while advancing commercial opportunities for UK businesses in the sector. A range of opportunities are available, including but not limited to content, programme partnerships, speaking and network opportunities, offering an exceptional platform for UK pharmaceutical companies to: - Access a high-profile platform to raise your brand reputation and awareness. - Have the opportunity to engage a high-profile audience, interacting and networking with senior government representatives and decision makers from both the UK and African health sectors. - with the strategic priorities of UK HMG, and position your company as an industry leader. - Access a gateway to African markets, facilitating connections and opportunities for commercial partnerships, deals and investment. - Contribute to the conversation on strategies to strengthening Africa’s manufacturing capacity to improve its health systems, access to medical products, and global supply chain resilience. Audience UK pharmaceuticals companies involved in vaccine production and related health manufacturing capabilities, including those interested in technology transfer, medical supply chains, manufacturing and research. Any UK company wanting to explore these opportunities should respond via the MS Forms below by mid-day Monday 30 June 2025. https://forms.office.com/e/cePQBiDLEq If deemed suitable, we will be in contact with your organisation using the email address provided when submitting the form to discuss next steps. Prospective sponsors will undergo due diligence checks from the Department of Health and Social Care to comply with robust UK Government standards. Since this is neither a call for competition nor a procurement, it's been assigned a nominal monetary value of £1. The deadline for responses is 12pm on Monday, 30th June 2025. Please contact ming.luo@dhsc.gov.uk if you have any questions about this opportunity.

About the buyer

The Department of Health and Social Care sets health and social care policy for England, and buys as a central healthcare organisation through contracts tiered by value. Suppliers register on Atamis, the department's e-tendering portal, to see live opportunities. Larger contracts also appear on Find a Tender once government thresholds are passed. Much of this procurement flows through framework agreements and the Crown Commercial Service. Every contract carries a 30-day payment term under the Procurement Act 2023.

UK health spending has nearly quadrupled to £241.8bn in 2024/25, £20bn up on the year before. £140.6bn of that went to procurement, the biggest sector of UK public spending and the fastest-growing.

Over the past 5 years, most of the Department of Health and Social Care's contract awards have been in business services, IT services and health and social work.
