Tender description
England has been part of the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) survey, a World Health Organisation survey of adolescents, for 20+ years along with around 44 other countries. This is a direct award action due to the contractor having exclusive rights to undertake the HBSC England study. The World Health Organisation (WHO) requires a formal assessment process for contractors, and the study teams are awarded exclusive rights after they meet the rigorous quality specifications. The University of Kent team has been approved by the WHO for the 2025-2028 round. ## Contract award Title: DHSC:GH: Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) Survey 2025 ## Contract award

About the buyer
The Department of Health and Social Care sets health and social care policy for England, and buys as a central healthcare organisation through contracts tiered by value. Suppliers register on Atamis, the department's e-tendering portal, to see live opportunities. Larger contracts also appear on Find a Tender once government thresholds are passed. Much of this procurement flows through framework agreements and the Crown Commercial Service. Every contract carries a 30-day payment term under the Procurement Act 2023.
UK health spending has nearly quadrupled to £241.8bn in 2024/25, £20bn up on the year before. £140.6bn of that went to procurement, the biggest sector of UK public spending and the fastest-growing.
Over the past 5 years, most of the Department of Health and Social Care's contract awards have been in business services, IT services and health and social work.
