About the buyer
Coventry City Council is a local authority serving the city of Coventry, with its own procurement service. Larger opportunities are advertised through CSW-JETS, a shared e-tendering portal with Solihull and Warwickshire. The three councils have run this joint tendering system since 2010. Find a Tender, the government's central digital platform, carries the very largest contracts too. That national route has applied since the Procurement Act 2023 took effect in February 2025. Bids are judged on price alone or under the Most Advantageous Tender method. Quality and social value count alongside cost under that approach.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of Coventry City Council's contract awards have been in IT services, health and social work and construction work.
