As part of the current service Beyond Housing handle all calls which are made to the Council once the Council’s main call centre is closed during evenings, weekends and bank holidays. This may include advising callers to call back during working hours, signposting to other services/providers or ringing through to the RCBC Duty Officer for any urgent queries which pose a threat to the public or the environment (e.g. flooding/fallen trees etc.). The Delegated Power Record provider also handles calls from people presenting as Homeless and utilising a set triage script, provides them with appropriate advice/accommodation. Beyond Housing have excellent familiarity with and local knowledge of the Council area. This is of advantage when dealing with the type of out of hours enquiries they receive. About the buyer
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is a local authority, buying goods, works and services for its own operations and residents. Every tender is advertised on Open, the e-procurement platform that replaced the NEPO Portal. Contract opportunities also appear on the council's own website. The council is a member of NEPO, the North East Procurement Organisation, a regional buying consortium. Suppliers register on Open and filter by authority to find live opportunities. A dedicated Corporate Procurement Team runs tendering and supports both council officers and external suppliers throughout the process.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's contract awards have been in construction work, health and social work and transport equipment.
