About the buyer

Derry City & Strabane District Council is a local authority covering the Derry and Strabane district in Northern Ireland, running its own procurement function. Tenders are published through eTendersNI, the shared eProcurement portal for Northern Ireland's public bodies. Contracts are grouped by department, spanning environment, business, health and community, capital and corporate categories. Complex procurements often open with a preliminary market engagement questionnaire ahead of the full tender. Bids typically close at 12 noon on a specified Friday, set out on each notice. The council's own website also mirrors live and past tenders alongside the portal.

UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).

Over the past 5 years, most of Derry City & Strabane District Council's contract awards have been in construction work, architectural and engineering services and business services.
