Tender description

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is the independent regulator of health and safety and has responsibility for regulating consumer gas safety in GB and does this largely through the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 (GSIUR). A key component of the consumer gas safety regime is the Gas Safe Register, the official gas registration body for the United Kingdom, Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, appointed by the relevant Health and Safety Authority for each area. By law all gas engineers must be on the Gas Safe Register. Gas Safe Register deals with all aspects of the downstream gas industry covered by the following regulations: • Great Britain: The Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 • Northern Ireland: The Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2004 The regulations cover both piped natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The gas registration scheme is owned by HSE and exists to protect the public from unsafe gas work. About the buyer

Health and Safety Executive regulates workplace health and safety standards across Great Britain as a central government agency. The Department for Work and Pensions sponsors it as a non-departmental public body. Regulatory oversight spans high-hazard sectors including construction, offshore oil and gas, waste management, agriculture and health and social care.

Each year a published commercial pipeline report sets out contracting opportunities for the coming year on GOV.UK.

Over the past 5 years, most of the Health and Safety Executive's contract awards have been in research and development, business services and software and information systems.
