Tender description

NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde require a Modular Minor Injuries Unit that is situated on site at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, with a maximum allocated capital budget of 300k. Market engagement suggests no alternative solution for this requirement, therefore the purchase of an "in situ" previously rented unit was considered best value, with no disruption to service. Through market engagement the in situ unit is considered the solitary option for the Health Boards requirement. In order to award this contract compliantly, NHSGGC will follow Regulation 32 of the Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations: (2) (b) (ii) where the works, supplies or services can be supplied only by a particular economic operator for any of the following reasons (ii)competition is absent for technical reasons Purchase of a Modular Minor Injuries Unit at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital

About the buyer

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is a Scottish healthcare board with its own Procurement Department. National contracts are used wherever possible, drawn from National Procurement, part of NHS National Services Scotland. Scottish Procurement frameworks and Crown Commercial Service contracts cover much of the rest. Requirements outside a national agreement go to Board-level tenders on Public Contracts Scotland. Pharmacy, capital planning, eHealth and estates each manage their own specialist procurement. Suppliers can register interest through its supplier enquiries team.

UK health spending has nearly quadrupled to £241.8bn in 2024/25, £20bn up on the year before. £140.6bn of that went to procurement, the biggest sector of UK public spending and the fastest-growing.

Over the past 5 years, most of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde's contract awards have been in architectural and engineering services, business services and health and social work.
