Tender description
The Digital Forensics Programme (DFP) aims to optimise digital forensics practices in policing through the implementation of five overarching projects: • Selective Examination & Extraction (SEE) • Automation • Validation • Enduring Capability • Rape Response Review Project Tech Uplift 2 (RRRP2) The Validation project has established a centralised digital forensic tool validation service, reducing the validation burden of ISO17025 and the FSR CoPC and facilitating the deployment of digital forensics software in police forces. The service minimises duplication of activities by conducting validation activities centrally. The scope of this ITT includes the critical validation activity required to ensure the ongoing success of software implementations associated with the RRRP2 and Automation projects.

About the buyer
Police Digital Service is a blue-light technology body serving UK policing, funded jointly by forces and the Home Office. The organisation delivers the National Policing Digital Strategy alongside law enforcement, industry and government partners. A dedicated commercial team gives police forces and suppliers ethical, impartial guidance on live tenders. That team reviews bids, checks compliance and advises on evaluation for both sides of a contract. Responsibility for procuring national policing IT frameworks and contracts moved to BlueLight Commercial on 1 April 2024. Police Digital Service's own technology opportunities still appear on Find a Tender.
The top 10 blue light buyers spent a collective £2.2bn between FY2021 and FY2025.
Over the past 5 years, most of Police Digital Service's contract awards have been in IT services, education and training and software and information systems.
