The NHS Joy App is a digital platform designed to support social prescribing and preventative healthcare by connecting patients with local non-medical services such as wellbeing groups, befriending support, debt advice, and mental health resources. It helps reduce GP appointments, improve patient outcomes, and create a more joined-up healthcare system. Directory & Case Management: Provides a real-time directory of local services and allows GPs, social prescribers, and other professionals to make referrals quickly. • Self-Referral: Patients can also refer themselves to services, making access easier and reducing reliance on GP appointments. • Integration: Works with NHS systems (e.g., EMIS, SystmOne) to streamline referrals and reduce administrative burden. Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and Frontline GP practices can use Joy to identify and address non-medical issues. • Integrated Care Boards (ICBs): Regional NHS bodies use Joy to coordinate services across larger populations. • Local Authorities: Community organisations can list their services on the Joy Marketplace, making them visible to patients and providers. The Joy Dashboard is a real-time analytics and reporting tool within the NHS Joy App that helps GP practices, Primary Care Networks (PCNs), and commissioners track the impact of social prescribing, measure service performance, and identify health inequalities.
