About the buyer
Home Office is a central ministerial department, and it buys through its own commercial and procurement function. Border Force, UK Visas and Immigration and HM Passport Office sit within the department. Procurement opportunities are published on the Find a Tender Service, alongside commercial pipeline notices for work still ahead of formal tender. Many IT and digital contracts are advertised through Crown Commercial Service framework agreements. The Jaggaer eSourcing Portal handles the department's tendering activity for suppliers and procurement professionals. Security-sector contracts run through the Joint Security and Resilience Centre, a dedicated procurement route for that work.
Procurement spend from central entities makes up 66% of overall UK public spend.
Over the past 5 years, most of Home Office's contract awards have been in IT services, business services and software and information systems.
