This package of works comprises of the following works (the Project): (a) Demolitions to existing buildings within TP1 plot. (b) Scientific Research Glasshouses, incl plant room building. (c) Insectary Laboratory Building. (d) TP1 Horticulture Store. (e) Associated external landscaping, external drainage, irrigation plant works and external services within the TP1 plot. The Project has been procured on a Two Stage basis, where at Stage One, Vinci Construction UK Limited were awarded a Pre-Construction Services Agreement (PCSA) in respect of to the design of TP1 and agreement of a contract sum for the full delivery of the project. This Contract Award Notice relates to the conclusion of the Stage Two tender process, where a JCT Design & Build Contract for the delivery of TP1 has been entered into with Vinci Building Limited. The change in the Vinci contracting entity is a result of a corporate restructure under Regulation 72(1)(d)(ii) of the Public Contract Regulations 2015.

About the buyer

John Innes Centre is a plant science and microbiology research institute based in Norwich. UKRI-BBSRC provides its strategic funding. Larger works contracts are tendered by the centre itself, as with its glasshouses and insectary. An earlier design services contract for that programme was run by UK Shared Business Services on its behalf.

Over the past 5 years, most of John Innes Centre's contract awards have been in repair and maintenance, construction work and architectural and engineering services.
