About the buyer
London Borough of Bromley buys as a local authority, with its own procurement team based at the Civic Centre. Contract opportunities are advertised through ProContract, accessed via the London Tenders Portal used by councils across London. Suppliers register free on the portal to receive notifications and access tender documents for advertised opportunities. Larger contracts also appear on Contracts Finder and Find a Tender, the national procurement portals. The council's contract procedure rules set out how procurement is carried out for different types of contract. Procurement decisions aim for value for money through competition between suppliers.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of London Borough of Bromley's contract awards have been in construction work, software and information systems and health and social work.
