About the buyer

Stockton Borough Council is a local authority that advertises its tenders through the North East Procurement Organisation, or NEPO. Suppliers register free on NEPO's Open system, where the council advertises contracts and invites tenders. A contract register lists every contract the council has awarded or joined, including framework agreements. The register updates continuously as new contracts are agreed, rather than being published as a static list. Contracts above certain value thresholds require suppliers to register on the Central Digital Platform, introduced under new procurement legislation from February 2025.

UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).

Over the past 5 years, most of Stockton Borough Council's contract awards have been in construction work, health and social work and software and information systems.
