About the buyer
Cork City Council is the local authority for Cork city, buying goods, services and works under Ireland's national procurement rules. Tenders are advertised nationally on eTenders.gov.ie, the state's central procurement platform. Lower-value purchases go through eTenders' quick quote facility instead of a full open tender competition. Larger contracts move to open tender on the same eTenders system. Supplygov.ie, formerly LAQuotes.ie, handles categories like plant hire and minor building work across several local authorities. A dedicated corporate procurement function applies Construction Procurement Ireland's frameworks across the council's building and civil engineering contracts.
€29.5bn was the estimated value of contracts awarded across the Irish public sector in 2025.
Over the past 5 years, most of Cork City Council's contract awards have been in construction work, transport equipment and agricultural and forestry products.
