About the buyer
Telford and Wrekin Council is a local government organisation that procures under its own Contract Procedure Rules. Suppliers register on the Central Digital Platform and the council's In-tend eSourcing portal to bid for opportunities. Larger contracts are published through the Find a Tender Service, with smaller opportunities advertised on the council's own website. Framework agreements and dynamic purchasing systems, including ESPO and YPO, give access to pre-approved suppliers. Smaller purchases can be sourced through direct quotations without a published notice. Bids are submitted online through the In-tend portal via document exchange or direct response.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of Telford and Wrekin Council's contract awards have been in construction work, health and social work and education and training.
