Tender description
The proposed project will see the existing building refurbished to Cat A fit-out. The Bury Park Community Centre is a two storey building on the Dunstable Road to the north west of Luton town centre. Bury Park Community Centre is fronted onto the Dunstable Road in the northeast and the main vehicular access to the site is off Avondale Road in the southwest. The site sloped downward from Avondale Road to the Dunstable Road by some two to three metres. The site broadly comprised 50% building and 50% hard standing with no areas of soft landscaping, and is within an area of mixed commercial and residential use. The Community Centre offers a range of facilities to visitors, including venue rooms, a library access point, a lunch club and Nursery room to the rear. The primary vertical transportation consists of one passenger lift at the centre of the building; this is available for use by staff and visitors. Stairs are also available for building users. All enquiries through LBC e-procurement portal (Proactis). You need to register to this portal to get the access (if you haven't). Details as follow. https://procontract.due-north.com/Register Please also register "Intent to Respond" once you have downloaded the tender documents and ready for a site visit.

About the buyer
Luton Council is a local authority, and a dedicated procurement team supports departments across the council to buy goods, services and works. All tenders are advertised and run through Procontract, the council's e-tendering portal. Suppliers register on Procontract and are automatically invited to tender for the council's contracting opportunities. Registration details must match Companies House records and describe services on offer. The council focuses on local supply chains and jobs and skills markets within its contracts, encouraging local sub-contractors, local recruitment and apprenticeships. Purchasing follows the council's standing orders and the Public Contract Regulations 2015.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of Luton Council's contract awards have been in software and information systems, construction work and IT services.
