Tender description
This procurement will establish a Contract for the Provision of level crossing offender driver retraining course through the British Transport Police. The driver retraining course is for members of the public who have committed a road traffic offence/s at a level crossing and have met the criteria where they can be offered a driver re-training course; this is a voluntary alternative to the offence being dealt with through the criminal justice system. The course must be focussed on level crossings and have the aim to increase drivers' awareness and understanding of the impact of their behaviour and improve their driving standards. The course will be a national course and should be available across England and Wales with an ability to also provide in Scotland should disposal methods in Scotland change to include an awareness course for this type of offence. It is essential that Potential Service Providers must be members of the National Association of Driver Intervention Providers (NADIP). Potential Service Providers must be competent in providing Driver Offender Retraining.

About the buyer
British Transport Police is the national police force for the railway network in England, Wales and Scotland, a blue light body with its own commercial services team. Train and freight operators fund its policing through Police Services Agreements overseen by the British Transport Police Authority. The Authority, a Department for Transport public body, sets priorities and allocates funding. Much of its buying runs through Crown Commercial Service frameworks such as G-Cloud.
Over the past 5 years, most of British Transport Police's contract awards have been in software and information systems, office and computing equipment and communications equipment.
