About the buyer

Fife Council is a local authority covering Fife in Scotland, and buys through its own Procurement Service alongside delegated purchasing in some council services. Tender opportunities are advertised on Public Contracts Scotland, with higher-value contracts also published on Find a Tender. Scotland Excel, the shared procurement service for Scotland's 32 local authorities, tenders many framework agreements on the council's behalf. Transportation, Building Services and Property Services can also purchase directly under the council's own Scheme of Tender Procedures. Registration on Public Contracts Scotland is required before suppliers can download tender documents or submit a quote.

UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).

Over the past 5 years, most of Fife Council's contract awards have been in software and information systems, construction work and transport equipment.
