Tender description

The main objective of this project is to build an understanding of current working practices, what data is collected in which system and how information flows between departments and organisations. This is a critical starting point for the programme. To maximise the benefits from implementing a joint EPR across the three acute trusts, clinical workflows and documentation will largely need to be standardised. It is understood that at present, there is considerable variation in both workflows and documentation across the three trusts. Achieving the desired and necessary levels of standardisation requires considerable collaboration across the three Trusts. Alongside the agreed joint acute clinical ambitions and plan to establish specialty-level clinical networks across the three acute trusts, this project will start to bring together teams from each of the three Trusts, as well as provide us with the visibility of our current working practices.

About the buyer

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust runs a teaching hospital for Norfolk and north Suffolk. The trust buys as an NHS trust with its own procurement team. Tenders are advertised on Find a Tender Service and Contracts Finder. Much collaborative buying runs through the Norfolk and Waveney Procurement Collaboration, a partnership of every NHS provider trust in the local Integrated Care System. A forward pipeline of upcoming procurement opportunities is published and updated regularly.

UK health spending has nearly quadrupled to £241.8bn in 2024/25, £20bn up on the year before. £140.6bn of that went to procurement, the biggest sector of UK public spending and the fastest-growing.

Over the past 5 years, most of Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust's contract awards have been in medical equipment and pharmaceuticals, health and social work and repair and maintenance.
