Tender description
Provision of cereals and oilseeds crop harvest, planting, and crop development reporting across the season. AHDB is looking to procure a supplier(s) to provide cereals and oilseeds crop harvest, planting, and crop development reporting across the season. The information needs to inform growers, grain traders, processors, industry stakeholders and other interested parties about planting progress/intentions, condition, development, and harvest progress at set points in time during the season. AHDB requires suppliers to source data and intelligence from a range of different sources. Our current methodology for crop reporting is based on a network of independent agronomists but we are open to suggestions for alternative provision. We have split the requirement across three lots and will award either multiple suppliers or a single supplier depending on the evaluation outcome of tenders received. Each of these Lots have associated milestones and KPI’s. • Lot 1 - Harvest progression reporting • Lot 2 - Planting intentions and progress • Lot 3 - Crop development and condition (winter and spring)

About the buyer
The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) is a ministerial department that also buys through agencies such as the Environment Agency, the Rural Payments Agency and the Animal and Plant Health Agency. Suppliers register on the DEFRA eCommercial website, Atamis, to compete for contract opportunities across the department. Larger opportunities are advertised through the Find a Tender service under the Procurement Act 2023, in force since February 2025. DEFRA also procures goods and services through the Crown Commercial Service. Existing contracts and frameworks set up under the previous procurement regulations remain valid until they expire.
Procurement spend from central entities makes up 66% of overall UK public spend.
Over the past 5 years, most of DEFRA's contract awards have been in research and development, construction work and business services.
