About the buyer
Wokingham Borough Council is a local authority that runs its own procurement through the ProContract portal, hosted by Due North. Suppliers register a free account on ProContract to take part in any of the council's tenders. Notices also appear on Contracts Finder and, where the statutory thresholds apply, on Find a Tender under the Procurement Act 2023. The council's contracts register is published on the same portal. Apprenticeship training is bought through the Crown Commercial Service framework, and temporary agency staff through the Matrix portal. A Premier Supplier Scheme offers earlier payment in return for a rebate.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of Wokingham Borough Council's contract awards have been in transport services, construction work and business services.
